Museum of the San Ramon Valley

 

The San Ramon Valley Museum is committed to the preservation and celebration of our rich history and heritage. The exhibits and collections represent our human interactions, institutions and cultures that were influenced by the landscape, climate and early settlers of the valley.

 

In a permanent display that includes artifacts, a historical story frieze and photographs of historic structures, the Valley 's history is featured. Objects from the San Ramon Valley are gathered, preserved and secured by the Museum. The Museum Shop gives guests exciting gifts and remembrances.

 

The Museum supports rotating displays and many guided tours, including Alamo Cemetery and Old Town Danville, in addition to a permanent display on the history of the Valley.

The Museum is located on Railroad Avenue at Prospect Avenue in the renovated 1891 Southern Pacific Depot in Danville.

As part of a collaboration between the Museum and the Town of Danville, the train depot at the San Ramon Valley Museum serves as the Official Visitor Information Center of the Town of Danville. At the Visitor Information Center, information, local maps, guides, the Live Locally downtown guide, the Town's Live Locally newsletter and community events calendar are available free of charge. Teachers are on hand to answer visitors' questions.

 

The Historic Train Depot also provides free public parking at the Municipal Parking Lot on Railroad Avenue and public restrooms situated behind the Train Depot in the historic Southern Pacific Railroad caboose.

 

The Town of Danville rents the land on which the Train Depot of the San Ramon Valley Museum resides for a nominal fee of $1 annually. In addition , the City helps finance extended hours at the Visitor Information Center Museum for service.
