Stone Valley Middle School is located on Stone Valley Road, Alamo, east of Interstate 680-California Distinguished and National Blue Ribbon School.
The Stone Valley Middle School student population of 615 students has grown by 5% over five school years. Stone Valley Middle School ranked among the top 10% of all California schools for overall test scores (math proficiency is top 10% and reading proficiency is top 10%) for the 2016-17 school year.
STONE VALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS
GATE (Gifted and Talented) students in Stone Valley are clustered in the CORE sections. In these classes , teachers can differentiate their instruction in order to meet the needs of GATE students.
Forensics Science
In this elective class, the emphasis is on understanding the underlying scientific theories of forensic science, with particular emphasis on researching skills such as hair analysis, DNA fingerprinting, and bite, tire, and shoe printing.
Jazz Band
This class is open to any 7th or 8th grade student who successfully completes a saxophone, trombone, trumpet, drum, piano, electric car or bass audition. This is a performing band that has been performing at many concerts and festivals throughout the year.
Math Olympiads
Math Olympiads is an exciting math program that brings together interested students to explore problem-solving through challenging math issues every week in a fun, team-oriented environment.
PTA Reflections
This is a program of art recognition and achievement. Reflections challenge students to use their critical thinking skills as well as their creative talents to work on a specific theme. Please refer to the Peach Jar on the Stone Valley website.
Bee Geography
Students compete and compare their knowledge of geography at school level in this competition. Students move to the district, county and national levels.
WEB, which stands for “Where Everybody Belongs” is a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes 6th/7th graders and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their middle school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, the program trains mentors from your 8th grade class to be WEB Leaders. As positive role models, WEB Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide the 6th/7th graders to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to middle school and help facilitate 6th/7th grade success.
