Monte Vista High School is a comprehensive public high school located in Danville, California , USA. It's the National Blue Ribbon School, as well as the California Distinguished School. It is fully accredited to the WASC. The school is located in the San Ramon Valley, approximately 35 kilometers east of San Francisco, and is part of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. His rival is San Ramon Valley High School.

Back in the day there was no freeway in the Valley, cowboys and valley pioneers were active in the community and students rode horses to school. With the population growth after WWII the 680 freeway was extended from Walnut Creek to Danville in 1964 and in 1965 SRVUSD was approved by voters and Monte Vista was founded.

Monte Vista has been founded with 200 freshman students and 13 teachers. The campus opened in January with a few buildings and a magnificent view. Students took poetry classes in the meadow and the curriculum included car shop, bird watching, home ec and electronics featuring reel to reel and record players. The sports program grew with the school and the first full season in 1968, with the season ending in victory against San Ramon's cross-town rivals and the beginning of the perpetual trophy.

School culture was full of spirit in the 60's and 70's-a marching band led by a baton of twirling girls, Musty the mascot was two people in front and back of a horse, and every student and teacher wore red and black on Fridays. It was a cowboy country surrounded by fields and a horse corral across the street instead of a parking lot.

The Rock and Roll era was part of the Monte Vista era. Teacher Chet Farrow has organized more than 100 school concerts featuring some of Rock's greatest names, including Journey, Boz Scaggs, Greg Kihn and Huey Lewis & The News. The musicians came to MV to give students a chance to learn hands-on sound and lighting systems. Today, one of those students is an A's announcer.

With the suburban development of the Monte Vista 70s growing, the facilities were upgraded and extended, with the most recent being the Workday Student Center in the fall of 2013. Monte Vista became famous for the highest level of education while winning the California Distinguished School Award in 1987, 1989, 1999,,,,,,, and the US Department of Education Blue Ribbon in 2000 and?

Today, the Monte Vista campus of 17 buildings is home to 2,450 students, 110 teachers, 60 staff members and 4 administrators. The Monte Vista High School graduates carry with them the history and future of the Mustangs.
