Temple Isaiah is more than a synagogue – a Jewish neighborhood. You will find learning and purpose, friendship and celebration at Temple Isaiah. As the oldest and largest synagogue in Contra Costa County, its roots lie deep in a uniquely Californian, vibrant approach to Jewish tradition and innovation. They embrace with warmth and affection all those who come through their doors, with openness to diversity and commitment to the dignity of each person in their midst.

Their communities welcome interfaith couples and families, individuals exploring Judaism, LGBTQ individuals and families, singles, couples, and people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. They use their hearts , minds and hands to fulfill the ancient prophetic call to social justice in modern times. Temple Isaiah is the Jewish Quarter of Spirituality and Study, a place filled with the spirit of God and human kindness. They know there's a place in their community for you.

The mission of Temple Isaiah is to embody, enhance and perpetuate their Jewish tradition by providing a welcoming spiritual home where members gather to worship God, study Torah, engage in Tikun Olam acts, deepen their relationship with Israel, participate in Jewish rituals and life-cycle events, and experience the joy of being part of a caring community.

Temple Isaiah is an inclusive community that welcomes people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities into their midst. Jewish history has spread its people all over the world. As a result, Jews vary in appearance, philosophy, and ritual practice. Temple Isaiah includes a high percentage of interfaith families who find a warm home. They hope that the descriptions of their ever-evolving customs below will help you feel comfortable and welcome to join them in worship.
