Schools in Danville, California

The Town of Danville is in Contra Costa County, California, in the San Ramon Valley. It is one of California's incorporated municipalities that uses "town" instead of "city" in its name The population at the 2010 census was 42,039. Danville has been dubbed "the safest city in California" by 2020.

 

Danville is known for the market of its farmers, and the San Ramon Valley Museum housed in the historic Southern Pacific Railroad Train Depot.

 

The Iron Horse Regional Trail runs through Danville. It was first a railroad converted to an 80-foot (24 m) long bike and hike trail path, as well as managed intersections. The trail passes through Danville, stretching from Livermore to Concord.

 

Government:

 

The Town of Danville has a Municipal Council – president with a five-person Town Council and a Town President. The terms of the Council members shall be four years. The council chooses a new mayor each year, in December, to take office in January. Danville's current Mayor is Newell Arnerich.

 

Danville has its own police force with 42 full-time employees including 30 officers and 12 civilian support employees. It also has 8 officers in the reserve and 32 volunteers. 

 

The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District (SRVFPD) provides fire protection for Danville. A Special District, it covers 155 square miles includes the following communities: Alamo, Blackhawk, Diablo, the City of San Ramon, the southern boundary of Morgan Territory and the Tassajara Valley, all located in Contra Costa County.
