Opened in 1979, the Blackhawk Country Club is a highly exclusive 4,800 acre (19 km2) country club community located at the base of Mt. Diablo, where luxurious residential neighborhoods are surrounded by thousands of acres of permanent open land. Eagle Ridge Dr. gives way to a separate gate that leads to very exclusive estates, including a 28,673-square-foot (2,663.8 m2) Behring estate.

At the beginning of the 1900's, the lush rolling foothills of Mt. Diablo became known as the Blackhawk Ranch, where the land had been graced for decades by precious thoroughbreds. Years later, this natural splendor inspired a vision of luxury living, and a new Blackhawk was born in 1979.

Today, as you enter the peaceful Blackhawk world, you'll drive past lush landscaping and luxurious homes to two magnificent golf courses and clubhouses: the Lakeside and the Falls, surrounded by acres of stunning open space. Sprawled out throughout the neighborhood of Blackhawk, we also offer 2 tennis facilities, totaling 18 tennis courts and 6 pickleball courts, a 10 lane competition swimming pool, and the only standalone fitness center in the area.

Blackhawk Country Club is proudly recognized as a Distinguished Club, as determined by the Board Room Magazine's annual Distinguished Clubs awards program, one of the most respected commercial publications serving private clubs. In the case of fine private clubs operating at the highest standards, the Distinguished Clubs award program uses a wide-ranging assessment process to distill and measure the Member Experience of the club. To be a distinguished club is to be one of a select group of private clubs that have been recognized as providing an absolutely excellent Member Experience, and Blackhawk Country Club is proud to hold on to this elite status.

As defined by the Distinguished Clubs, "Member Experience" is the special combination of "Quality" provided by a private club to its members. It is not just the quality of the service, the facilities or the product provided, but also the quality of the staff and the management, as well as the overall club governance that they deliver. However, the quality of the intangible is the most important quality. While difficult to measure, the latter is made up of the magical moments experienced by the members, the memorable events and the famous tournaments attended, as well as the proudly recognized traditions, history and heritage of the club.

Blackhawk Country Club also won the designation of America's Healthiest Clubs in 2019, as determined by Prevo Health Solutions. The Blackhawk Country Club 's quantitative score ranks the Club among the top five country clubs nationwide with this prestigious accreditation.

The Blackhawk Club features two 18-hole, 72-hole golf championships. Renowned golf course architects Bruce Devlin and Robert Von Hagge designed the original 6,904-mile Lakeside Course in 1981. In 2001, the course was completely redesigned and renovated by the highly acclaimed Graves and Pascusso company. The Lakeside Course makes the most of the natural terrain and elevated tees. The NCGA is rated as one of the ten most difficult courses in Northern California. The 18th green, 10,000 square foot island, surrounded by a 4-acre lake, is one of the most dramatic holes in California.

Blackhawk Country Club is proud to offer a variety of water programs at the Club's Sports Complex facility. Many of these exciting programs are offered throughout the year. This pool offers ten (10), 25-yard swimming lanes as well as a one-metre diving competition. The Sports Complex Pool is active in aquatic programs that include: adult swimming, aqua aerobics, private and group swimming lessons, swimming clinics, and a competitive swimming team, The HOX.
