Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton, California, is a comprehensive public high school. Along with Foothill High School and Village High School, it is one of three high schools in the Pleasanton Unified School District.

 

The school was a three-time Distinguished School of California and a three-time National School of the Blue Ribbon. The Amador Valley team has placed in the top 10 teams fifteen times in national competitions like We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution, including winning the 1995 national title. The Amador Valley Wind Ensembles, including Carnegie Hall and the Midwest Clinic, have performed at national venues and conferences. Since 2010, numerous Amador Valley athletic teams have won several California Interscholastic Federation North Coast Section Division I championships, including the softball team that MaxPreps called after a perfect season as the legendary national champion of 2014.

 

Since 2020, Amador Valley has offered 25 Advanced Placement classes, 24 varsity sports, a curriculum for local aquatic wildlife research, and vocational training to its 2,700 students. The location of Amador allows it to be the starting point for demonstrations and parades throughout the city. Since 1932, the Amador Theater, one of Pleasanton's performing arts facilities, has been located at the high school.

 

The school, founded as Amador Valley Joint Union High School (AVJUHS), graduated in 1923 with its first class. After district voters approved bonds in 1922, 1965, 1997, and 2016, major construction and renovations were undertaken.

Amador Valley High School's mission is to provide students with the essential skills for lifelong learning and achievement, and to nurture responsible citizens who contribute to society intellectually, creatively, and compassionately.

 

Distance (Remote) Learning Plans During School Dismissal

Because of the policy to avoid the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Amador Valley High School is now expelled. To communicate some of the main aspects of online learning, teachers have worked to establish distance (remote) learning plans. These plans were previously shared by students, so if the Remote Learning Plans need to be referenced, they are linked below and can be found by the teacher's last name in alphabetical order.

 

Awards

The school was a three-time Distinguished School of California and a three-time National School of the Blue Ribbon. In 2008, the national UNICEF-sponsored Junior 8 Competition was won by a team of Amador Valley students. Nine of Amador Valley's teachers-Mark Aubel, Tony Dennis, Debbie Emerson, Jon Grantham, Tom Hall, Debbie Harvey, Brian Ladd, Marla Silversmith, and Eric Thiel-have been honored as a Pleasanton Unified School District teacher of the year; one of t. The team traveled to Toyako, Japan to attend the 2008 Group of Eight (G8) Summit of World Leaders to consult on solutions to global problems.
