The Town of Danville is located in the San Ramon Valley in Contra Costa County, California. It is one of the incorporated municipalities in California that uses "town" in its name instead of "city". The population was 42,039 at the 2010 census.

 

Danville hosts a farmers' market each Saturday next to the Museum of the San Ramon Valley, located in the historic Southern Pacific Railroad Train Depot.

 

The Iron Horse Regional Trail runs through Danville. It was first a railroad that has been converted to an 80-foot (24 m) wide corridor of bike and hike trails as well as controlled intersections. Extending from Livermore to Concord, the trail passes through Danville.

 

Danville typically has pleasant weather throughout the year. 115 degrees F (in 1950) and 18 degrees F (in 1990) were recorded extremes. On average, depending on the season, the temperature here remains between 39-89 degrees. For example, in April, our average high temperature is 71 degrees and, according to The Weather Channel, the average low is 46 degrees.

 

Danville has a variety of parks, beaches, museums, and others that give visitors (and locals) plenty of places to explore. There are several trails for those interested in nature where you can go bird watching and hiking. Particularly recommended are the Del Amigo Trail, Hemme Creek Trail, and Mount Diablo Grand Loop Trail. Besides these, astronomical and birdwatching tours are offered by Mount Diablo, which are also amazing experiences. The State Park of Mount Diablo and the Lafayette Reservoir are perfect for stargazing.

 

Danville also has a public library, galleries, and some great bars and restaurants. The area's prominent museums include the San Ramon Valley Museum, the Blackhawk Museum, Glass House, and the National Historic Site of Eugene O'Neill.

 

Danville has some great country clubs like the Diablo Country Club, the Blackhawk Country Club, the Crow Canyon Country Club, and the Round Hill Country Club. They offer a picturesque landscape, courts for games, swimming pools and a great dining experience. 

There are some wonderful schools in Danville. If you plan to move here and have children, they will receive a wonderful education. The city has a number of schools, both public and private, all of which are excellent choices. 

 

And lastly, Danville’s motto is "Live locally," and its website's tagline says "Small city culture, great quality of life," which really tells everyone a lot about the city.
